No confirmation communication was received. Arrived Christmas eve and needed to make phone calls to find out the unit number and also the code to access door keypad. The unit has been renovated and is visually attractive, clean and convenient. New appliances in kitchen and laundry. Location for access to the hot tub and pool is excellent. Kitchen had limited number of glasses available Couch in living room space is not comfortable for seating, though it does offer fold out sleeping space if required for families.

Great rooms with all the essentials you want for cooking and general living. Beds were decent my only criticism was the pillows were a bit lumpy for me personally. But other than that our group of 4 all had a lovely stay.

Highly recommend staying at this resort. It was perfect for a family weekend getaway with young kids. The room was clean and had everything we needed, the grounds were well maintained and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

Nice little cottage/ townhouse like setting with a outdoor pool, hot tub and access to rathtrevor beach. The grounds are natural condition with goods open space for kids to run. A small playground for kids as well. The rooms are clean and well cared for.

Had another amazing stay at Ocean Trail's! Love the location, the access to the beach, how kid friendly the resort is. The rooms were clean and we felt comfortable the. moment we arrived. There's plenty of towels and clean sheets. The kids love the pool and hot tub. The landscaping is very well kept and looks beautiful. I loved seeing other families enjoying themselves and having a great summer vacation. Looking forward to coming back!

By far the best hotel we’ve stayed at with family! The units were incredibly spacious—more like a condo than a hotel. We had a full kitchen, in-suite laundry, and plenty of room to relax. The resort has everything you could ask for: a big pool, hot tub, kids’ playground, tennis courts, beach access—you name it! The property itself is beautiful and there’s so much open space for kids to run around and play. If you’re planning a trip to Parksville, this resort is a must-visit!

My family and I spent 3 nights at Ocean Trails in one of 2 room suites and one 1 room suite. Overall, it was a lovely experience, but there is room for improvement. The photos on the website and on promotions seem to misreprese the suites we were in. As they are independently owned, fit and finish seem to vary substantially. There was nothing wrong with our suite per say, but also not as nice as the marketing. Cleanliness was below expectations but not terrible. I suggest bringing your own towels. Our unit had some light maintenance issues. Not enough to complain about but enough to mention as feedback to the operators as well as potential guests. I certainly would stay here again and encourage others to do the same, I would just lower my expectations slightly. On the positive, the pool area is nicer in person than the photos and seems to be very well maintained. The resort is good value and you can't beat the location. The resort has the potential to be 5 star but I would give it a solid 4-4.5.

We have been coming here for years and always enjoy the resort, its location, pool, hot tub & proximity to the beach. This was the first time with our young grandson and hopefully the beginning of a new tradition. The three bedroom unit worked out perfectly for us with a Nice quiet secluded area out front for him to play & Close to the beach. However we were extremely disappointed to find out thru other guests staying there that they had got a special (stay two nights get one free) for the same time and number of days we were there (6) but they got two nights free which amounted to over a $600. Difference. When we inquired at the front desk we were told it was only offered thru Expedia and was a one off deal however we were told later that we needed to ask about the special in order to get it. When booking our vacation we phoned the resort directly as we believed that we would be given the best price and that it was better than them having to pay fees thru a third party. This was very disappointing as we are retired, on pensions and also long term returning guests. We would have hoped that they would have honored the special to us as well.

It was a great place to relax in comfort. Nice and quiet with restaurants close by. The nice young lady at the office was genuine and very helpful with recommendations on amenities close by. I will be back again

Our three families consisting of 6 adults and 7 children have stayed at this resort each summer for the last 5 years. We rent 3 separate two and one bedroom ground floor units. Every year the price has increased and honestly at $419 per night (Inc all extra fees and taxes) for a two bedroom unit with one bathroom it is no longer reasonable value for our money. The level of service does not justify the price anymore with no available onsite manager, no daily room service/fresh towels/cleaning/garbage removal. The units often have deficiencies such as non operable sliding doors, poor door locks, blinds that are missing shades, bath tap knobs that are loose and not properly set for hot/cold (which is a safety issue). This year one of the units was leaking from the roof which was known prior to our arrival and when it was mentioned to the front staff the response was “What would you like me to do about it?” The staff in previous years have always been helpful and friendly but this year we were dismissed in a very unfriendly manner when upon arrival we were given a second floor 2 bedroom unit. We have always stayed in ground floor units and make our request 1 year in advance upon our departure for similar units. We were told there was no manager to discuss the issue with for 3 days and no other option available and if we didn’t want to stay the entire cost of our stay would be charged. The only reason for not giving a one star is that outdoor pool and hot tub and location are very good and the grounds are nice. We definitely be looking at other options next year such as Sunrise Ridge next door that is less expensive and with the same amenities. We note that in all the years staying here there has always been a “No Vacancy” during our stay sign but this year that is not the case. Now we know why.
