Pacific Shores Resort & Spa receives mixed reviews, reflecting both positive experiences with the spa, location, and friendly staff, alongside significant concerns regarding room cleanliness, maintenance issues, and inconsistent service. Recent reviews highlight a decline in quality, particularly concerning room conditions and responsiveness.
I've been coming for the Pool for over two years now. They've been really good about keeping the temperature up and problem solving whenever it's been an issue. They really make an effort to keep things clean. If there is a problem, and I ask, they'll deal with it.
Against our better judgement (having had previously poor experiences), we tried this restaurant again. We had family staying here and they wanted to try it. My wife ordered seafood chowder-which was mostly potatoes and had very little seafood; it did, however have a piece of plastic which was about the size of belonging to a small candy. To their credit, it was 'comped' but that was the end of her dinner. I had the cosmic burger; for $26 the fries should at least be hot and fresh. The fries on my plate were neither; rather they tasted like they had been under a heat lamp for quite a while-dried out and lukewarm warm. The server was quite good and the poor food was not her fault; nice view but that will be our last visit.
We stayed here for our wedding night and night after. The service was poor, the staff were rude and dismissive. One staff member was friendly and responsive when we were checking out. She acknowledged that the rude staff, and dirty room were unacceptable. She gave us the managers card and assured us she would follow up on this, ensuring we recieved a refund of some sort. This did not happen though. I emailed the manager, and did not not receive a response back. In our room: -Bath tub/shower was moldy. We felt we needed a shower after using this. -Carpet and balcony: dirty, there were cheerios scattered on both. -towels: stained Pool: -there were no towels at the pool. My husband and I had to walk back to our room soaking wet. We walked right by the front desk, dripping, and the staff ignored us. We will not be staying here again. ***Added note after resorts reply*** you stated you do not provide cleaning during stays, however, the room was messy and dirty before our stay. The towels you gave us were stained and appeared dirty, so we did not use them. We did not eat or bring cheerios, they were there before our stay. The bathroom was dirty and moldy before our stay. It appears you do not clean the rooms between stays either.
Stayed here on Oct 31st for High School Provincial Championships. The rooms are a little older but clean and comfy with heated flooring in the bathroom! What a nice touch! Property and amenities were amazing, and just 5 seconds from the ocean! But what I really want to say is THANK YOU to Mustafa and other front desk staff. Mustafa went out of his way for us and all the staff were also friendly, helpful, attentive, and timely. I’ve already booked another getaway again. Thank you Mustafa!
We stayed in a private unit for a month at this resort and absolutely loved it. The grounds are spectacular and the amenities fabulous. This review is mainly for the spa, I had two treatments during my stay and they were both amazing (I am still thinking about them). I loved the non pretentious atmosphere, the friendly front desk staff and caring practitioners. I have been to both of the "big spas" in the area and this one is now my new favourite!
We stayed at Pacific Shores Resort on September 27, booked last minute due to the Hwy 4 closure. Unfortunately, our experience was a bit disappointing. During my shower, the power went out. I understand this was beyond the resort’s control, but with no staff available at night, we couldn’t even get a flashlight, which made the situation frustrating. The pool and hot tub were also disappointing. While the water itself seemed fine, the floors were grimy and there was visible rust, making the area feel neglected. The bed in our room was extremely soft and uncomfortable, and with the thin walls in our connecting room, we could hear noise from the neighboring rooms clearly, which made it hard to relax or get a proper night’s sleep. At check-out, the front desk offered a 10% discount, explaining it was the best they could do. While I appreciated the gesture, I would have valued more empathy and understanding for the challenges we experienced during our stay. The resort clearly has potential, but between maintenance issues, lack of overnight support, and the way our concerns were handled, our stay ultimately left us feeling disappointed.
This place has all you need, on top of being beautiful! On the contrary to previous reviews, I think they communicate their facilities very clearly online. Service was also great from the front desk, to the restaurant, to the activity rentals. Pacific Shores has an absolutely beautiful sunset location too. The rooms are more on the dated side maybe but the theyre clean, comfortable, and efficient (we were in the suite so we loved the kitchen and washer/dryer!!). Our whale watching tour was also canceled due to winds so we were so thankful for the kayak rentals they do for free. We saw a couple of seals breaching out of the water and the view around the bay overall was so nice. Would love to come again.
I was excited to stay here since the reviews seemed so good and the pictures online looked beautiful. The resort definitely does not look like the pictures. The grounds are not well maintained the grass was cut but the garden areas and walk ways are in need of major TLC. The resort actually feels like you are staying in a town house complex and the beach is not visible unless up high. The rooms are very dated and have a smell to them. It doesn’t help this resort has no AC. The room we stayed in was definitely in need of a deep clean. Also the kids park area is in need of some help. The stairs to climb up the play structure are broken and we had to lift our kids up each time they came down the slide so no relaxing for parents. Once the pool finally opened we asked front desk if we could have pool towels and he looked at us like we were crazy and interrupted him. The service only got worse when we went for dinner at the resort restaurant and the food was just ok definitely not worth the prices though. Between the service we received and the poor resort quality I definitely would not recommend this hotel at the prices they charge. There is many better options in the area.
Initially my review would have been 1 star, as there was a miscommunication regarding our room/booking. The manager, Julie, was great and very accommodating! She was able to resolve our issue, and the rest of our stay was fantastic. We stayed in a standard room for our first of 3 nights. The room gave very much motel vibes, not exactly what we had in mind. It was very dark and dated. The next 2 nights we were in a suite. The suites are great! Spacious, bright and much cleaner. The in-room laundry and dishwasher were a nice bonus. Beds were ok in both rooms. My advice would be to spend that little bit extra and get a suite, whether you are a family or couple. It’s worth it! The amenities were good. We stayed during spring break, so the pool did get quite busy but it is a good size for a hotel pool. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub/kiddie pool, too. The walk around the beach was very nice! The gas fireplaces on the look-out balcony were awesome. Although our trip started out on the wrong foot, we will definitely return!
Location nice with good beach trail. We booked two 1 bedroom suites. We were in the 700 block. There was a bit of a view of grassy and tree area and ocean in distance. Suites faced the outdoor pool area. Pools in and out nice, especially rock tub. Suites very dated and heat registers hadn't been dusted in awhile. Did a quick cleanup. Had to wash pot as dirty and kettle had been shelved with water in it and showing orange discolouration. One other pot had food stuck to it, didn't feel like washing another one so advised desk. They sent up new kettle and took the old one and the dirty pot away. Rest of dishes were fine. Really liked the glassware. Staff super friendly. The bed was weird, like sleeping on top of mattress filled with rice crispys. Snap, crackle, pop whenever you moved otherwise comfortable enough. On whole good stay. Onsite restaurant was nice. Some interesting artworks on display here and there. However, on return home daughter found a 200$ damage had been charged. Neither suite had any damage from us. We even wiped down counters and swept floors. She contacted the Resort who said it was their error, no damage, meant to charge a different room and they'd reverse the charge. 2 days and so far they haven't.
